History

The Early Years: 1969-1987

HealthSHARE originally was founded as Shared Hospital Electrical Safety Services in 1972, and a year later became the THA Health Services Corporation. Its mission was to develop and provide critical management and operational services to hospitals throughout Texas. For nearly two decades, HSC helped Texas hospitals with in-house programs like staffing, productivity, workload analysis, management and supervisory training, equipment repair and testing and engineering challenges – with minimal outsourced endorsements.

Building a Network of Endorsements:
1988-2007

The year 1988 brought significant changes at THA and its subsidiary, including a new name for HSC – HealthSHARE Inc., and a new business focus. For the first time, HealthSHARE actively began seeking out and partnering with vendors from whose services Texas hospitals and health care providers could benefit. HealthSHARE solidified and improved its process for evaluating potential partners. HealthSHARE staff conducted extensive due diligence of companies; those that met the test were approved and endorsed by the HealthSHARE Board of Directors. Periodic review of each endorsed company ensured that every endorsed firm maintained the rigorous standards of quality and service required to sustain the endorsement.

Today’s HealthSHARE: 2008-Present

In 2008, HealthSHARE made another strategic change as it established a royalty business relationship with parent company, Texas Hospital Association. Through it, today both THA and HealthSHARE share in the due diligence process, together fully vetting each potential partner both initially and ongoing once they are endorsed by THA. The new business model was accompanied by new executive management as well as new branding. THA-endorsed companies may use the THA-endorsed company logo as a symbol of their HealthSHARE ‘seal of approval’.
