Financial and Identification Management Services

TransUnion provides "Clusters of Services/Tools" focused around demographic and financial information.

IDSearch allows healthcare facilities to receive timely confirmation of guarantor/patient identities and addresses. It verifies demographic information at a glance, and requires name, address, and SSN. HAWK messages will also post, if activated, alerting the user to potentially fraudulent situations.

IDSearchplus grants permission for user to access guarantor credit header file information, after compliance with EMTALA has occurred. IDSearchplus can perform up-front identify validation checks or backend collections. It provides all the features of IDSearch with the added benefit of access to TransUnion's credit database.

HAWK is a fraud detection product that searches TransUnion's fraud database in conjunction with other product inquiries. It generates over 50 messages that serve as warnings that the user should carefully examine the input address or SSN. The messages appear on a variety of reports and could include:

  • Non-residential warnings indicating the input address is known to be a mail drop or correctional facility

  • SSN has never been issued or there have been death claims on the input SSN

Phone Append will provide the user with a phone number using a multi-sourced telephone database containing 140+ million records. The records come from a variety of sources, including:

    • Telephone directories
    • Call routing data
    • Self-reported data
    • New mover data
    • Owner occupied data
    • Regional Bell Operating Companies

While private telephone numbers cannot legally be returned, the system does provide a Private Number indicator that identifies a match. Phone Append can be appended to both permissible purpose products as well as non-permissible purpose products.

TOTAL ID is a quick and accurate ID verification service providing healthcare facilities with the highest quality and most comprehensive verification/fraud detection service in the marketplace. Features include:

    • ID Verification - checks different multi-source databases with national coverage and timely updates, and provides mismatch results.

    • Allows for access to a national phone database of over 165 million residential and business listings.

    • Allows for access to premier high risk fraud database which checks for suspicious or possible fraudulent social security numbers (SSA Death Master File) and/or addresses.

TransUnion Credit Report and Scoring Models

Healthcare facilities need guarantor/patient financial information to determine payment plans, qualification for charity, and to assess financial status. The TransUnion credit report includes:

    • Demographic information, special messages, public records, collections, trades, inquiries, consumer statements, and, if available, miscellaneous information.

    • Optional HAWK messages to help prevent suspected fraud.

    • Optional credit scoring models to effectively and efficiently management risk, delinquency, and default.

ExpressCheck Integration -TransUnion provides integrated demographic and financial information from databases into the registration process with the option to perform on a real-time basis. This integrated delivery process facilitates identification validation, fraud detection services, and financial services.

ExpressCheck Work Flow - A patient arrives for treatment and registers with the facility providing a basic set of demographic data and guarantor information. As the information is entered, ExpressCheck triggers a transaction, based on predetermined business rules, to verify the information. It is presented back to the registration clerk who may accept the information, or question the patient regarding any discrepancies. Once the clerk processes the verified information, the registration process is complete.

Output - Once ExpressCheck has obtained the response, it notifies the user of the availability to view. The user will open the response and simultaneously be presented with the data they originally entered and the most up-to-date data available from TransUnion. The user may interact with the data to either "View," "Accept," or "Correct." Once "Submit" is selected, the information is updated into the registration system. The ExpressCheck process is loaded and the user is back in the system where they last left off.
