We're always working hard here at HealthShare/THA to do a better job of serving Texas hospitals and supporting our association, and in 2006 we made some changes and had a number of successes I'd like to share with you. In December, Jan Thompson, who has been with us since 1997, was named vice president of financial and administrative services, and JoAnn Broom, who joined us in 2002, was named senior coordinator of marketing and program development. We also welcomed Nancy Vidotto as our new executive secretary.
As most of you know, fiscal year 2006 (which ended August 31, 2006) was the first in our three-year expansion plan, which included hiring and training three new regional representatives. Our annual budget reflected the investment in these positions, including travel and compensation, and we had projected a five percent increase in income from our sponsored companies. I'm pleased to report that actual results exceeded our expectations; sponsored companies revenues increased 11 percent from the previous year! Our net income represented a return on equity of 12 percent, and we paid THA Management Corporation a dividend of $200,000. Fiscal year 2006 marked the eighth year in a row that HealthShare/THA has paid dividends, an important form of support that helps the association provide valuable services while keeping down costs.
Three months into fiscal year 2007, the second in our three-year plan, we are continuing to see positive results from our regional representatives and other marketing efforts. We want to say thank you to all of you at Texas hospitals who have opened your office doors to these folks, giving us a chance to see how we can help meet your needs. As always, if you have questions or feedback, please don't hesitate to call me or any of us here at HealthShare/THA.
