MESSAGE FROM THE CEO

Every month for more than fifteen years, HealthShare has produced the newsletter you hold in your hand. Sharing was envisioned as a way to keep hospital professionals up-to-date on news and information about our company, to share information about events of interest to those working in hospitals and to provide you with brief information about our endorsed companies – the services and products they offer as well as new products, special offers, timely developments, and other news of potential benefit to Texas hospitals and their employees. We have kept the newsletter items short, so busy people like you could read through each issue quickly. The articles have just enough information for you to decide if the product or service is something that might be of use to you, with phone numbers and websites where you can go to learn more.

As part of the many changes we are making at HealthShare, all of them geared toward serving you better, we want to know what our readers think of Sharing. In the near future, we will be conducting a survey, asking whether you read Sharing, how often, whether it a useful source of information for you, how could it be better, and other questions. I hope all of you will take a moment to complete the survey when you receive it. And as always, we welcome your comments and feedback about HealthShare and our services.

Pharmacy Discounts

HealthTrans, endorsed by HealthShare, offers a pharmacy discount card that can help your employees realize significant savings on thousands of medications. Average savings are 15 percent on brand name and 47 percent on generic, but some discounts have been as high as 35 and 92 percent, respectively. Major retail pharmacies such as Walgreens, Tom Thumb, Target, Kroger, Rite Aid, Randall’s, Eckerd, CVS and Brookshire Brothers accept the cards, as do some local, independent pharmacies. HealthShare can provide cards for distribution to your employees and their family members. The card is not intended to replace a funded pharmacy benefit, but to enhance and supplement coverage with additional discounts on medications and supplies not typically covered under a traditional pharmacy plan. For more information, contact Mike Payne at 800/252-9404, ext. 1542.
