In a recent survey of THA members, you told us that the features you most wanted for retirement programs are best-in-class investment options, low cost, turn-key implementation, and effective education. I’m pleased to report that we have a program that offers all of that!
The THA Participant-Directed Retirement Program (PDRP) was developed with independent administrators Milliman, Inc. Thanks to Milliman’s unbiased and open investment platform, the PDRP offers best-in-class investment options at low expense, creating better investment returns for your employees. THA provides ongoing monitoring of investment performance as well. Through the power of THA membership, you also achieve economies of scale for investment, participant education, and administration. Milliman offers turn-key service, guiding and managing the entire program from start to finish, and providing streamlined and efficient conversion.
The final piece of the program is a comprehensive education program, Connections to a SmartTomorrow. It targets the educational needs of different investing personalities and includes an introductory letter; an enrollment kit with plan, investment, and enrollment information; a promotional poster series; and an interactive website with planning, educational and transactional functions. I encourage you to look into PDRP for your employees. For more details contact Doug Conkel at 214/863-5000.

PROFILES
Thomson Acquisition
The Thomson Corporation, endorsed by HealthShare, has acquired Reuters Group PLC, forming Thomson Reuters. This brings new energy and additional resources to the company, a leading information technology provider to organizations in a variety of fields, including health care. Customers of the health care business will benefit from combined scale, scope and innovation of the post-acquisition company. The transition should be seamless, with sales and customer service representatives continuing to function in the same manner with the same products and level of service. Sales and customer service channels will continue to operate independently, even for subscribers of products or professional services from both Reuters and Thomson Reuters. There will be no immediate changes in billing administration. For more information, visit thomsonreuters.com, or call Christiana Keeler, 512/440-8588.
New Offices
THA and its affiliates, including HealthShare, are now open for business at 1108 Lavaca, Suite 700, in downtown Austin. Staff telephone numbers and email addresses have not changed. The association’s former headquarters building on Highway 290 East has been sold, and THA and our fellow tenant, the Texas Automobile Dealers Association, along with other investors, own shares of the building through a limited partnership. In the past, THA leased office space near the Capitol during legislative sessions, but the new location houses the entire staff in the same building year-round for greater efficiency and economy. The new offices also provide improved amenities for members, including meeting space, secure parking, and temporary work areas. “This move literally puts Texas hospitals before the Legislature and will enhance our visibility in the public policy arena,” says THA president/CEO Dan Stultz, M.D., FACP, FACHE.
