MESSAGE FROM THE CEO

The mission of HealthShare/THA is to offer services that improve THA members' market position, community contribution and financial performance. Without THA members - that's you - we would have no reason to exist. Every thing we do, every decision we make, we have THA members in mind. We're always interested in your comments and suggestions, and we rely on your input to help us serve you better. This month, we went to a couple of members who have participated in our programs and taken advantage of our services and asked them to tell us what that has meant to them and their organization.

"HealthShare/THA is a valuable service that confirms due diligence has been performed on those vendors who are endorsed by the program," said Ron J. Anderson, MD, MACP, president and CEO of Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas. "These add important time and cost saving elements to a sometimes difficult and lengthy process."

David Cecero, CEO and president, JPS Health Network, said, "HealthShare/THA has continued to stay in touch with the needs of members in offering new and innovative services toTexas and the region. It has become a model provider of services to members, one cited in other regions of the country for its innovative approaches."

We appreciate these kind words and recognition of how hard the staff here works for our members. We are always interested in knowing what you think, too.

Vicki Pascasio, FACHE
President/CEO

PROFILES

CELEBRATE NURSES

National Nurses Week, May 6-12, 2007, is your opportunity to recognize the many ways professional nurses contribute to your organization. This year's theme is Nursing: A Profession and a Passion, highlighting the various interests, strengths and passions in nursing. Nurses work in emergency departments, intensive care units, pediatric wings, rehabilitation, surgery, outpatient settings, therapy and a host of other places. Their role in providing quality care cannot be overstated. Let your nursing staff know how much you appreciate and value them during this event. Find more information, including specialty items, at www.nursingworld.org/pressrel/nnw/.

AND EVERYONE ELSE!

National Hospital Week is also May 6-12. Care You Count on, People You Trust is the theme for the week-long celebration of hospitals  as foundations of their communities. Hospitals are multi-dimensional facilities covering every area of specialization, focusing on wellness and the overall health of those communities. Find more than 750,000 products - from note cards to t-shirts, tote bags, balloons, tumblers and more, most of which can be personalized – as well as product and planning guides at imprintmall.com/hospitalweek/history1.html, or call 800/822-1923 or call us at 800/252-9404. This important event is sponsored by the American Hospital Association and HealthShare/THA.

IMPROVE SELF PAY

Whether you produce patient statements in-house or outsource them, consider the Patient Payment Program from ETACTICS, endorsed by HealthShare/THA. Member hospitals using this program have experienced documented increases in self-pay payments, some as high as 40 percent. This revenue cycle patient payment program provides 24/7 access, free electronic viewing and archiving, patient friendly statement format, bi-lingual capabilities, easier to understand charge descriptions, unique patient messages and many other features. It works with all financial software systems, and you get special pricing through HealthShare/THA.
