PROFILES

More Benefits for Employees

Employees are one of your most valuable assets, and a strong employee benefits package is an important tool in recruiting and retaining them. Group term life insurance is a component of many hospital's voluntary benefits packages, but providing it is often resource intensive. HealthShare/THA is pleased to announce its endorsement of AmericaDirect's Rapid Decision Term Life Insurance, a simpler way to deliver individual life insurance as a benefit to employees. Employees submit a brief application through a unique HealthShare/THA website, and AmericaDirect can usually act on applications within 24 to 48 hours, thanks to a web-based underwriting review of relevant medical records. There is no medical exam, and premiums are paid directly by credit card. Employees get a simple, valuable benefit, and employers are freed from the burden of meetings, enrollments and payroll deductions. For more information call Mike Payne at 800/252-9404 ext. 1542.

Prepaid cards

With SpectraCorp’s prepaid gift calling cards available at admission stations, you can ease a stressful time for patients and families. Available in 10 minute increments, these bilingual domestic and international calling cards are a useful and meaningful alternative to gift shop or meal vouchers and parking passes. Offer your patients and their families this attractive and economical alternative to complement patient satisfaction efforts and service excellence initiatives. Even cell phone users will appreciate the calling card alternative when batteries are low or signals poor. SpectraCorp’s calling cards are rechargeable and can be customized to suit your unique patients’ needs. Hospitals Employing Physicians

According to the Merrit, Hawkins & Associates 2007 Review of Physician Recruiting Incentives, a growing number of hospitals are employing physicians. In 43 percent of searches from April 2006 to March 2007, hospitals offered employment to physicians, up from 23 percent the previous year and only 19 percent the year before that. More physicians are willing to trade independence for the security and convenience of hospital employment, according to the firm. Employment helps secure physician loyalty to hospitals and reduces direct competition between physicians and hospitals for medical procedures and tests. The report also notes a steady increased in the demand for primary care physicians, and indicates that financial incentives offered to physicians continue to rise. The report is available online at merritthawkins.com or call us at 800/252-9404.
